Do YOU have a PROBLEM?...

It's week 3! How did week 2 go for you? How does it feel to be one step further in your journey? Great huh!?.. Did it feel uncomfortable?.. Good! You can't have destiny and your comfort! The discomfort is to keep you from settling. Either you can make moves in life, or let life move you. I choose to make moves, and by committing to your journey of purpose, so do you!

Speaking of purpose, do you remember WHY you are on this earth? Recite those 3 things from last week's post to yourself everyday. Remind yourself that YOU HAVE PURPOSE! Now that you know WHY you are here, let's talk about WHAT to do while you are on this earth. Birthed out of every WHY is a WHAT!

**note** When you know your purpose, you become intentional about who and what you commit to!

In pursuit of discovering my purpose, I have come to the conclusion that purpose can be viewed in 2 types: Common purpose and Distinct purpose.

Common purpose is anything God has commissioned/commanded EVERY believer to do.

-"Therefore go and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the father, and of the son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Matthew 28:20

-"Heal the sick, raise the dead cleanse the lepers, and cast out devils." Matthew 10:8

-"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are oppressed." Luke 4:18

-"And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation." 2 Corinthians 5:18

Distinct purpose is the unique and specific way you carry out common purpose. You will always find your distinct purpose in a PROBLEM you are passionate about solving. The kingdom of God isn't just advanced through prayer and worship services, but the endeavors we undertake in solving problems in business, economics, government, education, media, etc.

Nehemiah asked Hanani about the Jews who escaped captivity and about Jerusalem. He told Nehemiah that the people were in great trouble and disgrace and the walls of Jerusalem were broken down (Nehemiah 1:3,4). Both men were aware of the PROBLEM, but it affected them differently. It wasn't that Hanani wasn't concerned, but Nehemiah's PASSION was stirred by the PROBLEM he had become aware of! When you have found your distinct purpose, you will pray, weep, and fast over a PROBLEM more than anyone else. The thought of it being that way consumes you daily, and you dream of the solution. You feel called to change it, you are PASSIONATE about it and you will commit your whole life to the cause, because you were born to change it! When it comes to purpose, the cause will always be bigger than you. It will always be about serving PEOPLE, enhancing the world you, and tied to a harvest of souls!

Are you ready? Let's take another step! Repeat after me: "I have a common purpose, and a distinct purpose. I am here to do what God's word commands and commissions EVERY believer! I HAVE A PROBLEM that I was born to solve! Today I commit to finding my PROBLEM, which will stir my PASSION, and reveal my God given distinct PURPOSE!"

Distinctives are what SEPARATE you from other people, certain environments, and circles. The WHAT to do may not be in the place you prefer, nor with the people you prefer. You can not have purpose and preference! Purpose demands SEPARATION! Here's a thought, not only are you separated FROM, but you are separated FOR! But WHY though?...

One of my favorite speakers, authors, preachers, leaders, the late Dr. Myles Munroe, once said that “the purpose for which something was created is found the mind of the creator.” Purpose, means “the reason why something or someone exists.” Whether you believe there is a God or not, everyone in this world is searching for or attempting to create a life of meaning.  For those of you who are like myself and you believe in the only true God, I want you to know that your life has purpose, everyone’s life has purpose!  You may have asked yourself questions such as “why am I on this earth,” “what is my purpose,” “how do I find my purpose?” I’m glad you’re reading this blog today, because I believe today begins the end of just getting by, “winging it” through life, and roaming the earth without a sense of purpose. Today begins the journey of answering the WHY of your life!

In this age where we are technology driven, our cellphones, computers, tvs, watches, etc., all serve a specific purpose for which they were created. These gadgets and electronic devices began as ideas in the mind of the creators. Such is the same with humanity, we started as an idea in the mind of God. Ideas are communicated through words or through what we create. The bible, which we believe to be the inspired word of God, gives us so many reasons as to why we exist on this earth. Today I will show you 3 reasons WHY God created you!

**Note** Everything God does is intentional! He created you on purpose, with purpose, for a purpose. Regardless of how you were made, or the state of your mother and father’s relationship, you are not an accident!

Genesis 1:26 says “And God said, Let us make man in our image, and after our likeness: and let them have dominion over all the earth.”

  1. You were made to have God’s image (character). Image deals with what you see. People don’t just physically see you, but they also see your character.
  2. You were made after his likeness. Likeness means “nature,” DNA. God wants to see himself in you while you’re on this earth.
  3. You were created to have dominion over the earth. What does that mean? Dominion means rule. God’s way of ruling the earth is through people. In simpler terms, earth’s affairs such as government, business, education, agriculture, media, etc., are our responsibility to establish, manage, and enhance, but according to the way God desires and leads us to.

Why are we on this earth? As you can see, we weren’t created for ourselves, but so that God can live in us and through us to impact and influence the world around us!

Are you ready? Let’s take a step! Repeat after me: “God is my creator! Jesus Christ restored my original purpose which was lost. I was created on purpose, with purpose, for a purpose. I know WHY I’m here now! My life has meaning! I am valuable! Part of my purpose is to let God live in me and through me, so that I may impact and influence the world around me!”

Purpose doesn’t stop with the WHY, but birthed out of every WHY is a WHAT! Now that you know why are here, now it’s time to know WHAT you were created to do while you’re here! Check out the next blog as we take the next step on “The Journey!”
